They were patient, encouraging, and incredibly skilled, ensuring everyone felt safe and supported, regardless of their fitness level or hiking experience. The small group dynamic was absolutely perfect! We quickly bonded with fellow hikers, sharing laughter, stories, and the awe-inspiring beauty of the mountains. It was a diverse mix of ages and backgrounds, all united by a love for the outdoors, creating a truly special camaraderie. And let's talk about the location! The Snowy Mountains are simply breathtaking. The panoramic views, the pristine alpine landscapes, and the crisp, clean air were a constant reminder of the raw, untamed beauty of nature. Every day brought new wonders, from the unique rock formations, the incredible views over each mountains to the star-studded night skies and the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets! Tom & Maddie’s attention to detail was impeccable. The gear provided was top-notch, ensuring we were comfortable and well-equipped for the elements. And the food? Absolutely delicious! We were treated to hearty, nourishing meals that fueled our adventures and warmed our spirits. Every meal was a delightful surprise, and best of all cooked with love. I did the 7 days Snowies Alpine Traverse with Tom and Maddie and it was amazing. As well as a great holiday I learned a lot about longer distance hiking - navigation, blister care, water management, river crossings (although all in this route were very tame). They were great guides and it’s given me the skills and confidence to do longer hikes. And their pancakes are amazing! Trip of a lifetime! I booked their 7 day tour in the snowy mountains from Kiandra to Dead Horse Gap. I am a total beginner and this was my first multi-day hiking experience. Considering this was SO out of my comfort zone, I felt at ease and worry free. Everything was taken care of - the most amazing itinerary, three hot meals a day, comfy tents, warm quilts, perfect Feb weather. Tom and Maddie are experts in their field, knowledgeable and supportive, and created a a really positive tour environment. The hike was challenging yet achievable, and hikers with more experience than me could choose to do extra kms on side trips if they wished. I really wanted to learn to hike, and this was the PERFECT introduction. Tom and Maddie are true professionals when it comes to hiking gear and routes. They are also very patient and caring. They always noticed when I needed a break and never pressured me to walk faster. This was important for me because, in the past, I felt stressed out while hiking. Other groups walked too quickly, and I sensed their annoyance when they had to wait for me. I often had to push myself too hard, which made me feel unwell. However, on this trip, we maintained a perfect pace. And I am even faster than before. The Adventure Gene takes all the guess work out of a fantastic hiking trip, so you just turn up and prepare to enjoy. Light weight packs with cool gear, Tom and Maddie took the time to run through all set up and were super informative about the areas we went through (down to being bang on with the best spots to be in for sunset / sunrise). Food far exceeded expectations and made for welcoming lunch and dinner stops. Would highly recommend, especially for anyone travelling for this amazing experience as this tour means you only bring your clothes, everything else is provided so you can travel light (with the option to store any extras you don't need on the tour). Did a bike packing tour with these guys and they made all the difference for me. I learnt so much from their experience, and how to think about what supplies and equipment that I really needed. They saved me (or my bike) with having spare parts that I hadn't even thought to bring! It's not just technical experience, they manage to lift everyone's spirits throughout the trip. No matter how exhausted or tired I might have been, Tom and Maddie made me feel I was not just a participant, but a contributor to the group, which made for an incredibly awesome trip. Would absolutely recommend these guys, you're in safe hands.
