The Adventure Gene

I had a fantastic experience on this trip. Tom and Maddie are true professionals when it comes to hiking gear and routes. They are also very patient and caring. They always noticed when I needed a break and never pressured me to walk faster. This was important for me because, in the past, I felt stressed out while hiking. Other groups walked too quickly, and I sensed their annoyance when they had to wait for me. I often had to push myself too hard, which made me feel unwell. However, on this trip, we maintained a perfect pace.

You couldn't ask for a better way to experience the highest peaks in Australia. The Adventure Gene takes all the guess work out of a fantastic hiking trip, so you just turn up and prepare to enjoy. Light weight packs with cool gear, Tom and Maddie took the time to run through the set up and were super informative about the areas we went through (down to being bang on with the best spots to be in for sunset / sunrise). Food far exceeded expectations and made for welcoming lunch and dinner stops. Would highly recommend.

I did the 7 days Snowies Alpine Traverse with Tom and Maddie and it was amazing. As well as a great holiday I learned a lot about longer distance hiking - navigation, blister care, water management, river crossings (although all in this route were very tame). They were great guides and it’s given me the skills and confidence to do longer hikes. And their pancakes are amazing! I went on the 4 day mt bimberri with Tom and Maddy. It was the best trip I have ever had! They areincredibly professional, knowledgeable. The food they provided was absolutely amazing, and the view, walk, camp and the gear were just as incredible. I felt so safe and confident with them throughout the journey. I cant recommend them highly enough. Im already planning my next trip with them!

I did the 2 day Alpine Blue Waterholes with Tom and Maddie. Guides were absolutely fantastic, I put 100% faith in our guides and gear. All the gear was brilliant, lightweight, packs down to almost nothing, warm. The hiking was brilliant, Alpine grasslands, waterholes, heritage huts, magnificent gorges, caves, bit of scrambling over rocks and sketchy descent, creek crossings, beautiful waterfall. Very organised, cannot fault. PS food was fantastic! great snacks, gourmet rolls and wraps, chicken noodle magic and freeze dried icecream that actually tastes like icecream.

I did the 4 day Mt Bimberi & Blue Waterholes trip and it was a fantastic experience, could not fault it! Maddie and Tom were excellent guides, who were extremely knowledgeable, passionate and kind. They prepare you well, provide you with awesome gear and look after you from start to finish. The hiking routes and campsites were beautiful! An extremely professional company and I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Brilliant trip with Maddie & Tom. They took us to some amazing places and beautiful campsites. The food was excellent. An amazing part of Australia that everyone should see. I can’t recommend them highly enough !

Absolutely fantastic experience with Maddie and Tom! From start to finish, they made our trip summiting the highest peaks in Australia unforgettable. Their knowledge, energy, and passion for guiding really shine through. Highly recommend the short trips they offer for people like me with less confidence hiking because you will learn so much and get to use some of the best ultralight gear.
