Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have recently come back from a wonderful two-day Snowy Alpine Blue Waterholes trip run by Maddie and Tom of The Adventure Gene. They took us to stunning places that I wouldn’t have explored on my own and despite being just a weekend away, they took us to a real variety of landscapes. I particularly enjoyed walking through the river to get to the waterfall and seeing the Milky Way and stars at night. They took all the hard work that goes into planning a trip like this, making it easy to relax and enjoy the weekend away. There were extensive inclusions: a 4WD private bus, top-of-the range, high quality, light gear including back packs, tents, sleeping quilts, day packs, and walking poles to mention a few that stood out to me. They also provided all the food, considering different people’s dietary needs, then made delicious meals for us. Shout out to Maddie here for managing to have perfectly ripe avocadoes for both the lunches! Maddie and Tom are impressive tour leaders, having put a lot of thought into the trips. They run the trips competently, safely and attentive to everyone’s needs both on the trip itself and in the lead up to it. I did the 2 day Alpine Blue Waterholes with Tom and Maddie. Guides were absolutely fantastic, I put 100% faith in our guides and gear. All the gear was brilliant, lightweight, packs down to almost nothing, warm. The hiking was brilliant, Alpine grasslands, waterholes, heritage huts, magnificent gorges, caves, bit of scrambling over rocks and sketchy descent, creek crossings, beautiful waterfall. Very organised, cannot fault. We were treated to hearty, nourishing meals that fueled our adventures and warmed our spirits. Every meal was a delightful surprise, and best of all cooked with love. This traverse wasn't just a hike; it was an immersive experience. It was a chance to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with nature, with ourselves, and with a fantastic group of people. As well as a great holiday I learned a lot about longer distance hiking - navigation, blister care, water management, river crossings (although all in this route were very tame). They were great guides and it’s given me the skills and confidence to do longer hikes. And their pancakes are amazing!
